“Taste of the Fringe”
Join us at the Stensrud Building for a sampling of future performances on Tuesday, July 23rd beginning at 6pm with a meet and greet and pianist Soren Schonbachler. A brief press conference follows at 7:00 to 7:30 followed by the teaser portion of the evening.
From 7:30 to 9:00pm artists are given up to 5 minutes to tease the audience with their future Fringe show. Prepare yourself to be fully entertained.
Missoula’s much loved Josh Farmer Band will then groove us into the evening hours with their fabulous tunes and tantalizing lyrics.
Looking forward to seeing you all! Bring a t-shirt if you want a Jack Metcalf Fringe Logo t-shirt.
Missoula Fringe Festival 2013 is Missoula’s first annual performance arts festival. Continuing the Fringe legacy that began in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1947 (Edinburgh Fringe Festival), the Missoula Fringe Festival will celebrate and honor alternative theater in various venues throughout Missoula, August 15 – 17th, 2013. This year’s Missoula Fringe Festival will be focusing on helping the arts community grow and showcasing Missoula as a venue for artists to perform.
The Missoula Fringe Festival is a self-produced, non-juried performing arts festival. It is an avenue for performers to showcase bold, fresh, and original live works that explore the edges of their work and provide audiences the opportunity to experience the outer-limits of performing arts. The Missoula Fringe Festival does not produce any shows, run any venue or pay any fees to artists. All applicants are accepted. Anyone can perform.
The only limitations to the artists are show duration and ticket price. All shows are limited to 60 minutes or less. Production costs are the responsibility of the producers and artists keep 100% of the door. Ticket prices must be kept to $12 or under. Of course, the law of the land and gravity also apply.
The festival is open to anyone with a show to present and a venue to host them. Venues can be anywhere; in a taxi, a public restroom, a sidewalk, street corner, river shore, mountain top, parking garage, a traditional theater, a front porch, a park swing, an alley…
A $20 basic application fee is required for each production. This fee goes towards promotional materials. Participants who wish to use the Stensrud Events Center, Crystal Theater, the Loft, the Downtown Dance Collective, the alley between the Rhino and the Top Hat, or the Monk’s Bar for their venue must book with Michelle at 406-544-4606. It is first come, first serve. No venue fees apply.
Performers who wish to participate in this year’s first annual Missoula Fringe Festival 2013 may do so by filling out the online application form. Deadline is July 22th, 2013.
“TASTE OF THE FRINGE” will be held on Tuesday, July 23rd beginning at 6pm at the historic Stensrud Event Center. We will begin the evening with a meet and greet from 6-7pm followed by a brief press conference where this year’s FRINGE schedule will be announced. From 7:30-9:00pm, participants are welcome to “tease” the audience with snippets of their upcoming August Fringe performances. Missoula’s most beloved band, The Josh Farmer Band, will then groove us into the late night hours. This event will be documented by videographers and photographers working on a documentary film which will be submitted for next year’s Big Sky Documentary Film Festival.
